Colorado River Plateau ~ Moab

September 11 ~ 15, 2008

Intro Slide

Because Jeannette and I had an exceptional experience at the Colorado River Plateau near Moab, Utah, two years ago, we had to revisit this beautiful area again and share it with friends.  Our friends, Alan and Betty Bartlett from New Braunfels, Texas, joined us for another spectacular experience.

Sorrel River Ranch Map

We returned for our second visit to the Sorrel River Ranch, which is a luxury resort situated on the Colorado River between towering buttes and mesas and some 17 miles from Moab.  We enjoyed the resort’s excellent restaurant and the comfortable surroundings of the inn.  Alan even went on a two-hour horseback ride into the Wild West terrain.

Dead Horse Point

Dead Horse Point National Park offers breath taking views of the Colorado River as it makes a bend some 2000 feet below us.  In my opinion, this park offers the most spectacular views of this Grand River.

Flight

Alan and I flank Tim Martin, our pilot with Redtail Scenic Flight Tours based at the Moab airport.  During the two-hour circular flight from Moab to Lake Powell, Tim provided us with awestruck views of this mysterious beautiful region.  His narrative and descriptions of the region were exceptional.  As an extra bonus, Tim flew us over the Sorrel River Ranch.

Arches

We briefly visited Arches National Park.
