Inspired by Savannah and Charleston, Palmetto Bluff is the essence of the South Carolina Lowcountry – a vast expanse of pristine land bounded by the May, Cooper and New Rivers. Rich in wildlife and spectacular beauty it is graced by Montage Resorts’ Inn at Palmetto Bluff, and a charming collection of town, country neighborhoods and South Carolina luxury vacation home rentals to call home. This is Palmetto bluff.
Daufuskie Island offers a glimpse of what other sea islands were like before bridges and causeways opened them to development. Most native residents of Daufuskie Island are descendants of freed slaves, who made their living oystering and fishing. We visited the historic and the publicly accessible residential and golf club communities.
The oldest city in the state of Georgia, Savannah was established in 1733 as a British colonial port and later the first state capital. A strategic port city during the American Revolution and Civil War, Savannah today is an industrial center and important seaport on the Savannah River approximately 18 miles inland from the Atlantic. Its downtown historic district offers an impression of the past with its restored cotton exchange warehouses and Victorian homes. The remodeled riverfront adjacent to the historic district features shops, restaurants, hotels and live entertainment. Founded and designed by James Oglethorpe, Savannah has some 20 park-like open squares.
